The Tutapi Herd

Wiltshire Horn Sheep...

Along with our small but increasing alpaca herd we also run a small flock of Wiltshire Horn sheep between our property and the land owned by our parents.

These are a hardy long legged meat breed that require no shearing, crutching or mulesing as they shed their fleece every spring. They can be farmed with minimal husbandry - in an almost 'organic' style.

It is widely believed that the Romans were responsible for taking the original flock to England where they became established in the region that bears their name.

The Australian Wiltshire Horn Sheepbreeders Association is well worth a visit for more information on this intelligent large framed sheep.
